Another late-in-the-day entry, but at least I get points for consistency!
This might be somewhat late for a Daily Eris posting, but my sense of time is all fakakta after writing the previous post 3 AM this morning.
Trying to stay ebullient about humanity, but if I’m honest it’s hit-or-miss.
I’ve often said that there are two seemingly near-universal human frailties that have caused an inordinate amount of suffering in the world. The first is the overestimation of humanity’s collective evolution & sophistication in relation to other animal species.
The second is: people generally seem to be unable to handle the truth.
There are people who believe that everything happens for a specially orchestrated reason. And there are those who believe we operate in a totally random universe.
And then there are the jerks. Like me.
“Think of two parallel lines…One is the life of Lee H. Oswald. One is the conspiracy to kill the President. What bridges the space between them? What makes a connection inevitable? There is a third line. It comes out of dreams, visions, intuitions, prayers, out of the deepest levels of the self. It’s not generated by cause and effect like the other two lines. It’s a line that cuts across causality, cuts across time. It has no history that we can recognize or understand. But it forces a connection.”Don DeLillo, “Libra”
Every once in a while, I revisit the topic of Lee Harvey Oswald’s possible doppelgangers. I do this because I’m generally a well-adjusted person who is fun at parties.
“Nothing happens anywhere in the cosmos except in interaction with the human mind.”
–Mark Booth (a.k.a. “Jonathan Black”)
I’ve just started reading through Mark Booth’s 2010 book The Secret History Of The World for the 4th time, and I thought I should just dash off a quick review.
I rather spontaneously wrote the last post out of a sense of complete desperation regarding what useful info—if any—this website could possibly impart. Here is another attempt.
I think this whole social media “letting everybody know what you really think” thing has really worked out great.
I had a dream last night that I adopted a rat. Certainly, not as exciting or exotic as a bona fide weasel. (Don’t worry, we’ll be getting to the paranoid current events stuff soon enough!)
Once again, it’s either wing it or not write at all. Will this post be an irrelevant self-indulgent shitfest or accidental gold?
