I’ve had an interesting…meditation on this topic last night. For some context, I’m an avid reader about innovations in, and the future of, space exploration—though you know, certainly not an expert. I’ve always been fascinated by Timothy Leary’s belief regarding humanity’s destiny being in the stars, “Starseed.”
In his book Musings On Human Metamorphosis, Leary writes:
“Migration is nature’s classic solution to overpopulation, scarcity, and competition. When humanity begins to work for extraterrestrial migration, the competition for material acquisition will gradually diminish because unlimited space, energy, and resources await in the solar system.”
And I have…until yesterday night…really agreed with Leary on this point.
I. IS HUMANITY’S FUTURE “IN THE STARS?”
No. At least…not in the literal way it is being presented.
The scenario in which humanity establishes all these colonies on other planets in the “neighborhood” of our solar system in such a way that if Earth was to “go,” humanity would just live on like in sci-fi TV shows and movies? That can’t happen. Because humanity “as we know it” (important phrase here) can’t survive without Earth being around.
It’s not just about needing the resources of Earth…humans are also “attached” to Earth by an energy pull. “Gaia,” if you will, shares a bond with humans; it is a symbiotic relationship on a deep energy level. Humans—the human body—is literally a part of Earth.
II. BUT WHAT ABOUT ESTABLISHING COLONIES AND THE NEW SPACE ECONOMY?
You’re still going to have colonies on the Moon and people attempting to mine asteroids for precious minerals and a growing number of space-stations and whatnot. In fact: you’re really going to see that increase exponentially over the next decade.
None of this can happen with the Earth being there/here.
III. CAN’T WE COLONIZE THE MOON OR MARS?
This whole concept was hit home to me in the most basic of ways…imagine the following being told to you in George Carlin’s voice:
“No, humans can’t ‘live’ on the Moon or Mars or what-have-you. Does the Moon have trees??? Does the Moon have air that humans can breathe? No?
Then humans aren’t meant to live on the Moon!!!”
Now, humans can temporarily colonize these heavenly bodies—with an incredible amount of equipment. They can bring the resources with them. They can even set up “waystations” in space to help produce and relay some of this stuff to the colonies.
But they are still going to be very dependent on Earth.
IV. THE METAPHOR
This idea about “Starseed” is a metaphor.
This idea about “the future of humanity is in the stars” is a metaphor for a higher stage of soul evolution. We are not talking about “outer space” as this physical concept, but rather different frequencies and dimensions and things that are almost completely out of our current frame of reference.
The rocket is a metaphor. The iconic space-suit is a metaphor. 2001: A Space Odyssey is a metaphor. Star Trek is not a “predictive” concept specifically about humanity’s future in space, but rather a Utopian parable about humanity’s future on Earth.
A lot of what you will hear channelers say about humanity’s future “in the stars” and all the alien races out there and the possibility that Earth might one day join “the galactic union” is part-metaphor, part-misunderstanding, part-true(ish).
Substitute a lot of this talk about other “planets” and “galaxies” for instead other dimensions and modes of being we can’t wrap our heads around yet.
This idea of “Nibiru”—the “rogue planet”—is partially based on physical astronomical circumstances, with a heavy dose of metaphor grafted onto it.
Astrology is the conscious grafting of practical metaphor onto “parallel” motions of heavenly bodies in our immediate galaxy. It’s like reading tarot cards, using the idea of the outer world being our “mirror.”
V. WHAT *IS* GOING TO MIGRATE AND “LIVE ON” IN “OUTER SPACE”
Humans, as we know them, aren’t going to live on in “space” without Earth.
Here’s what will live on: bacteria/microscopic “human-droppings” and AI.
Will “human-droppings” (bits of DNA, toenails, etc.) be the “panspermia” that will, somewhere down the road (a long long LONG time from now), randomly sprout life? Possibly, but it ain’t gonna be humans like we know them.
And, frankly: the bacteria have a MUCH bigger shot at it. Bacteria are some of the most efficient life-forms for this particular density of existence, and they also have a “soul life” we can’t even imagine. That’s right. You know: bacteria. Like your poop. It’s the perfect third-density lifeform!
VI. WHAT ABOUT THE NEAREST EXO-PLANETS?
VII. BUT *HERE’S* THE THING…
Human souls are meant to use this time on Earth to grow and develop and evolve.
At some point, when a soul reaches a certain level of evolution, it “outgrows” Earth as we know it.
At some point, collectively, we are going to “outgrow” Earth as we know it.
And then “the ultimate trip”—what the ending of 2001 was symbolizing—is a shift to another level of consciousness. And you could call this a “dimensional” shift, or a change in “frequency”…it’s something almost assuredly beyond our ability to comprehend or define. Certainly, that old New Age nugget about “light bodies” has some relevance here—but again, we need to avoid getting too “literal,” or we are going to put our foot in our mouth.
VIII. DOES THIS MEAN WE SHOULD GIVE UP ON SPACE EXPLORATION?
Space exploration, experiments, and so on are a REQUIREMENT for our continued life here on Earth at this time.
Let me repeat that, lest I be misunderstood: Space exploration, experiments, and so on are a REQUIREMENT for our continued life here on Earth at this time.
Think of it like…we are “expanding” our neighborhood. Like when you play one of those little world-building video games that starts with this one patch of land to build on, and then you “level up,” and then you find another patch.
But Earth is a central part of our existence nonetheless.
And there you have it—my little bit of sci-fi WTF for today. Believe it, don’t believe it, use this as a launchpad for your own inquiries, etc.
I’m going to have a bowl of cereal now.
